1. Choose your installer
The unit is half the job - the install is the other half. Our own background-checked crews measure, set, seal and insulate every opening, and they know the lines we quote inside and out because they install them every week.
2. Select the right products
Compare styles, materials and glass packages side by side until the fit is right for your rooms, your budget and your goals. The product-line comparison below is the place to start.
3. Prepare your home for install
Before install day we walk you through a short checklist - furniture pulled back, treatments down, a clear path to each opening - so install day is watch-it-happen, not scramble.

ViewLux Window Replacement: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install ViewLux-compatible window replacement parts across Dallas, with most sash replacements and hardware swaps running $220 to $480 installed. Same-week scheduling is typical for parts we keep on the truck. Most Dallas homeowners discover a failed ViewLux part the same way: a window that suddenly won’t lock, a crank that spins without moving the sash, or a draft that wasn’t there last winter. The good news is that ViewLux windows are built on a modular design, which means the failed component can usually be replaced without tearing out the whole frame.
Hale Windows Dallas is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with ViewLux, but we service their windows and doors regularly because they’re common in Dallas homes built after 2005, particularly in developments around Lake Highlands, Frisco, and the northern suburbs.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux has produced several series over the years, and parts are not always interchangeable between them. The ViewLux 7000 series, which shows up frequently in Dallas-area tract builds from the mid-2000s, uses a different balance system than the later 8000 series. The 9000 series, their higher-end line, moved to a stainless steel roller assembly that rarely fails compared to the nylon rollers in earlier units.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see often: the sash lock on a ViewLux 7000 series window will not fit an 8000 series frame, even if they look nearly identical from six feet away. The mounting hole spacing is off by 3/8 inch. Before ordering any part, check the etched label on the corner of the sash. ViewLux stamps the series number and the IGU (insulated glass unit) dimensions right on the spacer bar inside the glass. If that label is gone, we measure the sash thickness and the balance shoe profile to identify the exact part. We always match the original spec. When a quality aftermarket equivalent exists from a manufacturer we trust, we’ll tell you and price it accordingly. For structural components like balances and lock mechanisms, we recommend OEM ViewLux parts because the tolerances matter.
Signs Your ViewLux Window Replacement Is Failing
- The window won’t stay open. This points to a failed spiral balance or block-and-tackle balance. In North Texas, the culprit is often accumulated dust and pollen working into the balance tube, combined with temperature swings that accelerate spring fatigue. The sash either slams shut or takes two hands to lift.
- The crank spins but the sash barely moves. The gear teeth inside the operator have stripped. We see this most on windows that face west in Dallas, because the afternoon sun bakes the lubricant out of the crank mechanism, and homeowners end up forcing it.
- You can hear air or feel a draft around a closed window. The weatherstripping on ViewLux sashes is a vinyl bulb gasket that hardens and flattens over time. After eight to ten Dallas summers, it loses its spring and stops sealing. Sometimes the fix is a replacement gasket, not a full sash.
- Condensation builds up between the panes. That’s a failed IGU seal. The spacer has lost its integrity, and now moisture is trapped between the glass layers. There’s no resealing it; the glass unit gets replaced.
- The lock is stiff or won’t engage at all. The lock cam and keeper have worn or, in some cases, the sash alignment has shifted slightly, so the lock no longer lines up. Forcing the lock eventually breaks the internal pawl, and then it’s a full lock replacement.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Dallas homeowners can expect to pay for common ViewLux window replacements, installed by us:
| Part | Installed Price Range |
|---|---|
| Sash lock replacement | $85 to $140 |
| Crank operator replacement | $150 to $260 |
| Spiral balance (per pair) | $180 to $300 |
| Weatherstripping (full window) | $110 to $190 |
| IGU (insulated glass unit) replacement | $220 to $480 depending on size and glass package |
What drives the range on glass is the glass itself. A basic clear double-pane in a small bathroom window sits at the low end. A large picture window with low-E coating (a thin metallic layer that blocks heat while letting light through) and argon gas fill lands at the high end. Every quote includes the part, labor, and disposal of the old unit. We put the price in writing before any work starts, and if the replacement fails, the second visit is free. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every install: if it’s not done right, we make it right, no argument needed.
DIY or Call Us?
Some ViewLux parts are genuinely DIY-friendly. A lock swap on a window where the alignment is still good takes ten minutes with a Phillips screwdriver, and you can order the part online. Checking whether your weatherstripping is flattened is also something any homeowner can do with a flashlight and a piece of paper: close the window on the paper and see if it slides out easily.
Spiral balances are a different story. They’re under tension, and the charging tool needed to wind and set them correctly is a specialty item. If you release the tension wrong, the balance can whip out of the channel and take a chunk of the jamb with it. We’ve also seen homeowners strip new lock screws into the vinyl frame because the pilot holes didn’t align. For anything mechanically loaded or involving glass replacement, call us at (361) 203-9040. A wrong move on a balance or an IGU swap means buying the part twice.
FAQs
In the Dallas climate, ViewLux windows generally last 15 to 22 years before a significant component fails. The extreme heat accelerates seal failure and dries out lubricants faster than in northern climates, so expect the first repair somewhere in that window.
Sometimes yes. A sticky crank can often be cleaned and re-lubricated, and slightly shifted alignment can be corrected without new parts. But stripped gear teeth, failed glass seals, and broken balance springs are replacement jobs. We’ll tell you if a repair makes sense before we ever quote a replacement. Call (361) 203-9040 and we can talk through what you’re seeing.
Most parts swaps take 30 to 90 minutes per window. An IGU replacement might take two hours if the sash needs to be removed and the glass swapped on a work table. When we’re on site, Spencer Odell personally walks every finished job before the crew loads the truck.
We keep the most common ViewLux replacement parts on the truck: locks, crank operators, balance shoes, and standard weatherstripping. Odd-size IGUs and series-specific balances are ordered with a 3 to 7 day lead time, and we’ll give you that timeline in writing before you commit. We also service and stock parts for PGT, CGI, and CWS windows when a home mixes brands.
